Car Care is not just for Christmas

To make the most from any investment, similar sets of rules need to apply. Great care must be taken to not only protect the investment but also to maintain it and even help it to flourish. A car is certainly an investment that falls under these rules and car care is absolutely essential if you want to make the most of your four wheeled treasure. Although some people may have the same car for years and years, it’s usually not the case and a car is bought perhaps with 2, 3 or 4 years in mind before it is sold and a new more up to date vehicle is purchased. If when you reach that window of opportunity when you can sell your car, then the amount of money you are able to achieve will depend largely on how well you have taken care of it. If you have paid it little attention, then along with the usual dramatic drop in price for a used vehicle, you can also expect a further reduction, as any new owner won’t pay a good price for a badly maintained car. A few hours spent on the car every week or so can make all the difference in the long term as well as providing you with a car that looks and runs well for as long as it’s in your ownership. There are plenty of car care products on the market (both for your vehicle’s interior and exterior) and can be purchased relatively cheaply. It will be a worthwhile investment, when your car passes its MOT year in year out.

Identifying a CO2 Fire Extinguisher

There is no doubting that fire extinguishers save lives and protect property and equipment from potential damage but how many of us actually know that there are a variety of different fire extinguishers and not all of them are suitable for a fire that we may face at some point. So, without question, it is certainly worth learning which extinguisher is suitable for which fire. Let’s just take a quick look at the CO2 fire extinguisher in this particular blog post. CO2 stands for carbon dioxide and this means that instead of water or foam, the CO2 extinguisher actually contains the gas, carbon dioxide. When used, the gas discourages combustion and so helps to smother the fire potential. However, because carbon dioxide is present, great care should be taken when using an appliance such as this. While you might be used to identifying extinguishers as red, it is important to note that there are distinguishing features that help us to know what is what in the world of the fire extinguisher. If you see an appliance at work, look out for a coloured panel above the instruction set near the top and in the case of the CO2 extinguisher there should be black panel sitting above the instructions that clearly identifies this as a carbon dioxide version. They should never, ever be used on fires that involve burning wood or paper or even cloth. These sorts of fires should really only be tackled with water or foam extinguishers. They are generally used to tackle fires involving flammable liquids or the fires which may have been caused by electrical currents.
